ITTFは22日、メキシコのITTFラテンアメリカ選手権について報じました。

【和訳】
現在、メキシコのグアダハラでは卓球が大変注目を浴びている。
というのはグアダハラは5月下旬のITTFラテンアメリカ選手権に加え、年末の全米選手権の開催地にもなっているからだ。

全米選手権は4年に1度開催されるスポーツの複合イベントで、今年の10月15日(土)から20日(木)まで開催される予定だ。

今回のケースと同様に、2007年にITTFラテンアメリカカップはリオデジャネイロで開催され、その後ラテンアメリカ選手権、全米選手権もリオデジャネイロで開催された。

過去の大会の経験も活かされ、ITTFラテンアメリカ選手権と全米選手権への準備は以前にも増して順調である。

ITTFの副会長であるマリシオ・リベラと共に、ラテンアメリカ卓球協会会長であるコロンビアズ・ジャイロ・パエズは、4月3日(日)から4月6日(水)にかけてグアダハラを訪れ、全米選手権実行委員会を視察した。

そしてITTFラテンアメリカ選手権5月23日(月)から28日(土曜)に開催し、全米選手権へのプレ大会として開催されることが決まった。

加えて全米選手権の最終予選は5月29日から31日に開催されることとなった。

Guadalajara in Mexico is very much the focus for sport in 2011 and very much the focus for table tennis; not only will the ITTF-Latin American Championships be staged in the city in late May but later in the year the city will welcome the Pan American Games.

Table tennis in the quadrennial multi-sport event is scheduled to be staged from Saturday 15th to Thursday 20th October 2011.

Similar to ITTF-Latin American Championships which follow the ITTF-Latin American Cup stage in Rio de Janeiro staged in Rio de Janeiro in March; so the Pan American Games follows Rio de Janeiro.

Brazil in 2007
The Brazilian city staged the Games in 2007.

Preparations for both ITTF-Latin American Championships and the table tennis events at the Pan American Games are now well advanced.

Site Visit
Alongside Melecio Rivera, ITTF Executive Vice President, Colombia's Jairo Paez, the President of the Latin American Table Tennis Union, visited Guadalajara from Sunday 3rd to Wednesday 6th April 2011 where they met members of the Pan American Games Organising Committee.

All the necessary arrangements with the regards to the logistics of organising both events were discussed with matters finalised for the ITTF-Latin American Championships and the Qualification Tournament for the table tennis events at the Pan American Games.

Matters Decided
The ITTF-Latin American Championships will be staged from Monday 23rd to Saturday 28th May and will serve as a test event for the Pan American Games. The Qualification Tournament will follow immediately from Sunday 29th to Tuesday 31st May 2011.

Presenr at Meeting
In addition to Melecio Rivera and Jairo Paez, Dr Carlos Andrade, the Director of the Pan American Games Organisation was in attendance alongside Valentin Yanes and Ivar Sisniega, also from the Organising Committee and Sergio Blanco, the Tournament Director for the ITTF-Latin American Championships and Pan American Games Qualification Tournament.

Present at Meeting
Intense discussions but there was a lighter side to the proceedings; on Tuesday 5th April, precisely 192 days prior to the Opening Ceremony for the Pan American Games, Dr Carlos Andrade presented Jairo Paez with a shirt suitably printed to mark the occasion.

4月22日から25日まで、マンギラオにてグアム ジュニア＆カデットオープンが開催されています。

日本からは、丹羽孝希選手(青森山田高)と加藤美優選手(TKOクラブ)が出場。

丹羽選手は、男子ジュニアシングルスにおいて、決勝へ順当に駒を進めましたが、韓国のチェ・ドクファ選手(wr512)に2-4で敗れ、惜しくも準優勝となりました。

一方の加藤選手は、女子ジュニアシングルスでは準々決勝で敗退となったものの、韓国のチョン・スルギ選手と組んで出場した女子ジュニアダブルスと、女子カデットシングルスの2種目で見事優勝を果たしました。

2011年04月23日

18日、ＷＴＴＣ実行委員会から大会公式マスコットの発表と、その名前の募集、中に入ってくれる人員の募集がありました。

【和訳】

世界選手権開催まで残り3週間となり、実行委員会では今大会を盛り上げていくための、大会マスコットを発表しました。

ただ1つこのマスコットには問題があります。

まだ名前が決まっていないのです。

一番面白い名前を考えてくれた人に大会の2日券をプレゼントします。

22日、味の素ナショナルトレーニングセンターにて世界卓球選手権ロッテルダム大会の共同記者会見と壮行会が行われ、多くの報道関係者、卓球関係者が詰めかけた。

記者会見では、新ウエアの発表と、選手・監督それぞれから世界選手権に向けての抱負が語られた。

新ウエアの発表


ウエアを着た福原選手からは「ローズのこのユニフォームは女性らしい色で、このユニフォームを着て戦うのが楽しみ。」と笑顔でコメントした。


ウエアには東日本大震災復興に向けて日本卓球協会より提唱された「WASURENAI3.11」というロゴが入れられた。

この「WASURENAI3.11」は、3月11日の悲劇を忘れず、日本代表として世界を舞台に戦い、被災地に勇気を与えるという想いが込められている。

記者からの質問に対し日本のエース水谷選手は、「自分が負ける姿が想像できない。金メダルを狙っていく。」と優勝に向けた強い決意を言葉に表し、

あまりの強い決意に会場にいた報道関係者や、周りの選手達まで驚きを隠せなかった。


また、会見後半からは、フリーアナウンサーで今大会のメインキャスターを務める福澤アナウンサーと、3大会連続の公式サポーターに就任したAKB48卓球部のメンバーが登場し会見場を賑わした。


会見に引き続き開催された日本代表選手団壮行会にも多くの卓球関係者、報道関係者が参列した。


壮行会では関係各社から選手達へ励ましの言葉が贈られ、大いに盛り上がった。


選手達もリラックスムードで普段見せない笑顔を見せてくれた。

20日ＩＴＴＦはグアムでのトレーニングキャンプの様子を報じた。

【訳】
グアムジュニア＆カデットオープンの一環として、ＩＴＴＦのトレーニング合宿がグアムフィールドハウス大学で4月18日(月)から4月21日(木)にかけて開催された。


合宿は4日間に渡り、９つの国から集まった全63名（41人の少年と22人の少女）が参加し、27台の卓球台が使用された。

オセアニア地域の選手達にとって、とても良い成長の機会であったとエマニュエルクリスティアンソンは語った。

合宿は各国の選手達にとって、まもなく開催されるグアムジュニア&カデットオープンへの良い前準備となった。

異国のコーチが選手達を指導することは喜ばしいことであるし、
皆が協力し合うことで、互いの選手達にとって、とても有意義な合宿であった。

大部分はグアムの地元選手達によって与えられた印象だった。

キャンプでは、20名ものグアムの選手が素晴らしい動きを見せ、時には楽しみも見せながら、一生懸命プレーしていた。

その中に、とりわけ素晴らしい成長を見せた選手がいた。グアムチームのジョンカールマーティだ。

「私達は新しい技術、とりわけウォーミングアップの方法や必要性を学べとても嬉しく思っています。」とジョンカールマーティはコメントした。

「私はこの合宿で初めて他国のレベルを知れ、これから自分の技術レベルや知識を向上させる機会を得て、嬉しく思います。」と続けました。

エマニュエルクリスティアンもまたグアム選手の努力を称えた。

「ほとんどの選手達が1日5時間も練習をしたことの無いにも関わらず、最終日まで全力で合宿に臨み、情熱を見せ、技術習得に向上心を見せ続けた。」とスウェーデンのコーチのエマニュエルキリスティアンが語った。

今回の合宿のような姿勢を持ち続ければ、あっという間にグアムの卓球レベルは高まるだろう。

トレーニング合宿はこのグアムでのイベントの成功のほんの1ピースに過ぎない。
次のメニューは4月21日(木)から始まるオセアニアカデットチャレンジだ。

Conducted in conjunction with the Calvo Enterprises Guam Junior and Cadet Open, a very successful ITTF Training Camp was held at the University of Guam Field House from Monday 18th April to Thursday 21st April 2011.

Sweden's Emanuel Christiansson was the Head Coach with Scott Houston, the Oceania Development Officer assisting.

Over the course of the four days than 63 players, 41 boys and 22 girls, from nine countries attended; no less than 27 table tennis tables were used.

Region Developing
It's good for me to see that Oceania as a region is developing,I can see an improvement in the overall standard of the athletes　commented Emanuel Christiansson.

The training camp focused on the best preparation for each of the countries that will take part in the upcoming events; it was pleasing to see the help that was given by the coaches of the different countries and we are always happy to cooperate together for the benefit of all the athletes.

Good Impression
Most notably was the impression made by the local Guam athletes.

It was for all 20 Guam players their first exposure to a high performance training camp and it was clear to see from the effort and enthusiasm that they displayed throughout that they were relishing the opportunity.

One player in particular who reaped great benefit in the training camp was Junior Team member John Karl Matias.

Learning New Ideas
We were all happy to learn new techniques, in particular about warming up correctly and why this should be done said John Karl Matias. The training camp was good for me because it was the first time that we could see the level of the other countries; I was happy to have the chance to increase my level and knowledge.

Potential to Grow
Emanuel Christiansson also praised the efforts of the Guam players.

I was impressed because even though most of the players are not used to be training up to five hours per day, but still on the last day of the training camp there was full energy, fighting spirit, and willingness to learn,said the Swedish coach.

Having players with this attitude, table tennis in Guam has the potential to grow very quickly.

The training camp was another successful piece of the puzzle of the events and activities in Guam. Next on the menu is the Oceania Cadet Challenge on the afternoon and evening of Thursday 21st April.

Full Swing
Nominated by the Guam Government as Table Tennis Month activities are now definitely in full swing.

【訳】
シングルスの選考から漏れた曹臻、木子、馮亜蘭の3選手はダブルスで選考された。

2009年横浜大会で李平と出場した混合ダブルスで優勝し曹臻は、今回張超とペアを組んで混合ダブルスに出場する。

一方、木子はハオ師と、馮亜蘭は閻安とペアを組む。

馮亜蘭と閻安は両者とも1度だけ世界選手権への出場経験がある。

木子と馮亜蘭は女子ダブルスでペアを組み出場する。

残りの女子ダブルスの2ペアは横浜大会で金メダル、銀メダルを獲得している。


ディフェンディングチャンピオンの郭躍・李暁霞組と郭炎・丁寧組である。

郭躍は左利きで李暁霞が右利きで、ロッテルダム大会ではこのペアが第1シードとなる。

今年の女子ダブルス決勝では、2009年の決勝と同じ組み合わせになる可能性があるが、男子はそうならない。

というのは前大会準優勝の馬龍と許シンはペアを組むが、前大会優勝者の陳杞と王皓はそれぞれ違うパートナーとペアを組む。

王皓は今年のスロベニアオープンでペアを組んで優勝した張継科と本大会もペアを組む。

陳杞は2004年のアテネ五輪と2007年の世界選手権でペアを組んで優勝した馬琳と再びペアを組む。

【解説】
今大会の中国代表は経験豊かなベテランと、勢いのある若手をバランスよく選抜された代表団となっている。

国内予選で実績を出した選手も、国際大会での実績が伴っていなければダブルスや混合ダブルスに回されている。

男女とも、シングルス、ダブルス、混合ダブルスと隙の無い代表団であるが、

今大会からダブルス出場枠が3組となったので、日本人選手のメダル獲得も大いに期待できる。

シングルスは男女共に鉄壁な布陣で、簡単にはメダルを取らせてもらえそうにもないが、

プロツアーでは随所に日本人選手が中国選手に勝利する場面もあり、ここ一番でのプレーに期待したい。

　Doubles Duty
No place in the Women's Singles selection for Cao Zhen, Feng Yalan and Mu Zi but they do appear in the doubles.

Cao Zhen, who in 2009, won the Mixed Doubles title with Li Ping,
partners Zhang Chao, whilst Mu Zi is in harness with Hao Shuai and Feng Yalan with Yan An;for both Feng Yalan and Yan An it is their first ever appearance at a World Championships.

Mu Zi and Feng Yalan both appear in the Women's Doubles event where they partner each other with the two other pairs from China
being the gold and silver medallists from Yokohama.

Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia, the defending champions, are once again in harness as are Guo Yan and Ding Ning.

No Repeat
A repeat of the 2009 Women's Doubles final is a possibility but in the Men's Doubles event that will not happen.

Ma Long and Xu Xin, the runners up in Yokohama, will once again be together but for Chen Qi and Wang Hao it is different partners.

Together Again
Wang Hao partners Zhang Jike, with whom he won the Men's Doubles title earlier this year at the Polish Open;whilst for Chen Qi, it's back together again.

He unites with Ma Lin, the man he partnered to gold at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the 2007 Liebherr World Championships.
