テレビ東京は、4月30日（土）放送の特別番組の中で『世界卓球CMアワード2011』のグランプリをはじめ各受賞作品を発表した。

各受賞作品は、180本を超えるオリジナルCM作品の中から選出された。

ITTFは4月28日、世界選手権ロッテルダム大会で、通算20回目の世界選手権出場を果たすベルギーのJ・セイブについて報じた。

【和訳】

世界選手権ロッテルダム大会で、ベルギーの41歳ジャンミシェルセイブが世界選手権20回目の出場を果たす。

彼はそれによって卓球史に特別な記録を残すこととなる。

この記録はビクターバーナーが残した世界選手権19回出場の記録を超える。

とても信じられない記録であるし、記録樹立まで29年もの歳月を要している。
ビクターバーナーは26年間で記録を作っていた。

「記録達成の要因」
しかし、記録達成には2つの大きな要因があげられる。
ビクターバーナーの現役時代は、1年に1度世界選手権が開催されていたが、
J・セイブが現役時代の2003年からは、個人戦と団体戦が1年毎に行われるようになった。

「記録への壁」
逆に1940年から1946年までは第2次世界大戦が勃発し、
7年間世界選手権が開催されなかった。
ハンガリー代表のビクターバーナーは1929年のブタベスト大会から1939年のカイロ大会まで11大会に出場し、戦後の1947年パリ大会から1954年まで、8大会に出場した。

「ベルギー代表の仲間達」
J・セイブはビクターバーナーが亡くなった15年後に生を受けた。
彼は1983年の世界選手権東京大会で世界選手権初出場を果たし、28年後のロッテルダム大会にも出場を決めた。
ベルギーチームで彼の仲間であったDidier Leroyは2011年にITTFの大会マネージャーに就任した。
1983年当時のベルギー代表は、その他にProphetisとThierry Carbreraであった。
Thierry Carbreraは昨年12月に開催された世界ジュニア選手権でベルギー男子ジュニアチームの監督に就任した。

In the Ahoy Arena, during the second week of May,
Belgium's 41 year old Jean-Michel-Saive will compete in his 20th World Table Tennis Championships.
It will give him a special place in the history books of table tennis;
he will surpass the current record held by the late Victor Barna, who competed in 19 World Championships.
It is an incredible achievement and has been achieved over a span of 29 years;
Victor Barna competed in the World Championships over a period of 26 years.

Factors to Consider
However, two factors must be taken into consideration when considering two of two of the world's all time greats in the sport of table tennis.

During the whole of Victor Barna's career the World Championships were staged on annual basis, it is only since 2003 that the policy of organising the World Championships on that basis with individual and team events alternating has been in operation during the career of Jean-Michel Saive.

Interruption
Conversely it needs to be taken into account the period of the Second World War when from 1940 to 1946, a period of seven years, no World Championships were staged.

Representing Hungary, Victor Barna played in all eleven World Championships from Budapest in 1929 to Cairo in 1939; then from 1947 when the World Championships returned to the international calendar in Paris he was on duty in eight consecutive post war World Championships until 1954.

Colleague Present
Jean-Michel Saive was born 15 years after Victor Barna's farewell in Wembley in 1954, he made his debut at the World Championships in Tokyo in 1983 and one member of that Belgium team from 28 years ago will be present in Rotterdam.

Didier Leroy was a member of that team. He is one of the ITTF Competition Managers on duty at the 2011 World Championships.

The other member of the 1983 team were Remo de Prophetis and Thierry Carbrera, the latter present recently in the role of coach with Belgian Junior Boys・Team at the Volkswagen World Junior Championships last December.

4月27日から5月1日まで、フランスのメスでフランス ジュニア＆カデットオープンが開催されました。

ジュニア男子シングルスで、吉村真晴(野田学園高)、吉田雅己(青森山田高)に次いで共に3位入賞を果たした酒井明日翔(エリートアカデミー)、村松雄斗(エリートアカデミー)は、カデット男子シングルスでも順当な勝ち上がりをみせ、見事決勝へ進出。

日本人同士の対決となった決勝は、カットを得意とする酒井が村松を完全に攻略し、ストレートで勝利しての優勝を飾った。

現在フランスのメスで行われているフランス ジュニア＆カデットオープンで、女子シングルスに続き、男子シングルスでも日本代表選手が優勝。

ジュニア男子シングルスは、吉田雅己(青森山田)と吉村真晴(野田学園)の日本代表どうしの対決。

7ゲームスをフルに戦う接戦の末、吉村真晴が4-3で勝利した。

現在フランスのメスで行われているフランス ジュニア＆カデットオープンで日本人選手が大活躍。

ジュニア女子シングルスでは石川佳純(IMG)が優勝、ジュニア男子シングルスでは、吉田雅己(青森山田)と吉村真晴(野田学園)が決勝に残っている。

ジュニア男子ダブルスでは吉田雅己・吉村真晴組が優勝、酒井明日翔・村松雄斗組がベスト4入賞を果たした。

なお、男子ジュニア第1シードの丹羽孝希(青森山田)は準々決勝でエリートアカデミーの村松雄斗に敗れた。

ITTFは27日、元世界チャンピオンのシュラガーが世界選手権ロッテルダム大会を棄権することを報じた。

【和訳】

2003世界選手権パリ大会の覇者シュラガー(オーストリア)が5月に行われるGAC世界選手権ロッテルダム大会から棄権することを決めた。
シュラガーは首の深刻な炎症が棄権の原因と発表した。

シュラガーは、先週、怪我による棄権を発表した2009年ヨーロッパチャンピオンのマイケルメイス(デンマーク)に次ぐ2人目の棄権者である。

言うまでも無く、パリでの優勝を経験したシュラガーは卓球史に名を刻む名選手である。
2003年、彼は世界選手権男子シングルスで優勝し、おおかたの予想を覆した。21世紀で中国選手が優勝しなかった大会はこのパリ大会が唯一の大会なのである。

しかし、1999年にオランダアイントホーヘンで行われた世界選手権でも、シュラガーは大きな番狂わせを巻き起こしていたことは記憶に新しい。
パリ大会ほど劇的では無かったが、シュラガーはベルギーのティエリー、、
日本の偉関、フランスのエロイ、クロアチアのプリモラッツに勝利し、銅メダルを獲得した。

Winner of the Men's Singles title at the Liebherr World Championships in Paris in 2003,
Austria's Werner Schalger has withdrawn from the GAC GROUP World Championships to be staged in Rotterdam from Sunday 5th to Sunday 18th May 2011.

Werner Schlager cites a nerve inflammation in the neck as the reason for withdrawal.

The Austrian is the second notable name to withdraw from the tournament
;last week Denmark's Michael Maze, the 2009 European champion, was also forced to withdraw owing to injury.

Place in History
Unquestionably, the name Werner Schlager is in indelibly printed in the annals of table tennis history as a result of his quite incredible success in the Paris suburb of Bercy.

In 2003 he totally upset the odds to be crowned Men's Singles World champion,the only non Chinese player to achieve the feat this century.

Please Memories of the Netherlands
However, on the most recent occasion that the World Championships were staged in the Netherlands, in Eindhoven in August 1999; Werner Schlager also upset the odds.

It was not as dramatic as four years later but a second round win over Belgium's Thierry Cabrera followed by victories over Japan's Seiko Iseki, France's Damien Eloi and Croatia's Zoran Primorac took him to the semi-finals and an eventual bronze medal.

Pinnacle
At the penultimate stage he was beaten by the champion elect China's Liu Guoliang.

It was at the time the pinnacle of Werner Schlager's career; ensuing events were to prove otherwise.

ITTFは27日、日本代表チームのユニフォームに刻まれた「WASURENAI3.11」のロゴについて報じた。

【和訳】

5月8日から15日にかけて開催されるGACGROUP世界選手権ロッテルダム大会に出場する、日本代表チームのユニフォームに「WASURENAI3.11」のロゴがプリントされている。

刻まれたロゴは2011年3月11日に日本を襲った地震と津波の被害にあった方、亡くなった方を決して忘れないという意味を持っている。

我々はあの日のことを、自分が日本人であろうとなかろうと忘れないだろう。忘れるべきでない。

ユニフォームへのロゴの刻印は日本卓球協会によって決断され、4月22日の記者会見で発表され、選手もITTFもこの案に賛同した。

ユニフォームへの刻印に加え、このことを知らせるため「WASURENAI3.11」のウェブサイトも公開された。


さらにロゴ入りのトレーニングTシャツも作られ、売上は災害救済基金に当てられる。
100枚以上ものロゴ入りTシャツが世界選手権ロッテルダム大会で販売される。

各国の卓球協会でもこのロゴの使用が認められている。
このロゴの使用を望む卓球協会は日本卓球協会まで連絡を。

The inclusion of the logo is in memory of those who suffered and lost their lives
when the earthquake and resulting tsunami hit Japan on Friday 11th March 2011.

Total Support
The decision to include the wording on the shirts, initiated by the Japanese Table Tennis Association was announced on Friday 22nd April 2011 at a Press Conference in Tokyo.

All the players supported the idea and the International Table Tennis Federation has given full approval.

Further Activities
In addition to the wording on the shirts, to keep the tragic events strong in the memory,a website Wasurenai 3.11, is being prepared; furthermore, training shirts bearing the logo are being produced in order to raise money for the Disaster Relief Fund.

One hundred such shirts will be on sale at the World Championships in Rotterdam.

Option Open to National Associations
Any other national association may wear the logo as a mark of solidarity with Japan;associations wishing to take this opportunity should contact the Japanese Table Tennis Association for the necessary artwork.
