ＩＴＴＦはスペインオープン女子シングルス2回戦で韓国の金?娥選手に勝利した山梨有理選手を次のように報じました。

4月8日(金)アルメリアで行われたスペインオープン女子シングルス2回戦で衝撃が走った。衝撃の主役は日本の23歳山梨有理だった。

2005年のスペインジュニアカデットオープンで優勝した時のように、再び山梨は自身の実力をヨーロッパの国々に見せ付けた。

7ゲームにも及ぶ激しい戦いの末、彼女は今大会第1シードの金?娥(韓国)に勝利し3回戦進出を決めたのだ。

彼女は2-11, 11-1, 11-13, 6-11, 12-10, 11-6, 11-9で勝利した。

「自信を持って、我慢強く戦えたことが勝因でした。」と笑顔で山梨は語った。

「常にミスしないようにし、長いラリーで戦わなければなりませんでした。」
そう語った山梨は、決して慌てることなく、着実に勝利のためにすべきことを積み重ねました。

「金がバックカットで返球して来た時は、返球が難しかったです。」と山梨は続けました。

金のバックハンドは粒高ラバーを使用していて、バックハンドカットは非常に安定している。

山梨は金の回転を明確に見極めていたので、強烈な下回転に対しても丁寧に返球できており、その結果、金は決して得意とは言えない、攻撃に転じることが強いられた。

さらに、第7ゲーム8-8で、いわゆる「ナイフエッジ」が起った。
攻撃こそが最大の防御と考え、攻撃に転じた金。
際どい判定だったが、山梨の返球がエッジで入っていると判定され、山梨にポイントが入った。

次のポイントでは、金の集中力が途切れ、疲れからかリターンをネットにかけた。

2本のマッチポイントを握った山梨は、積極的且つ冷静に攻め、連続ドライブで金のミスを誘い、勝利した。

「8オールになって、ボールを確実に相手コートに入れることだけを考えていました。」とまとめた。

彼女は自信が語っている以上に、積極的に攻撃し、ボールを相手コートに返球していた。

Shocks abounded in the second round of the Women Singles event at the Spanish Open in Almeria on the evening of Friday 8th April 2011

; one after another the favourites fell, with Japan's 23 year old Yuri Yamanashi leading the way.

The winner of the Junior Girls・Singles title at the Spanish Junior and Cadet Open in 2005, Yuri Yamanashi once again showed her delight for European country.

In a gruelling seven games duel, she beat top seeded Korean, Kim Kyung Ah, to book her place in the third round.

She gave a most disciplined display to win 2-11, 11-1, 11-13, 6-11, 12-10, 11-6, 11-9.

It was very important today that I was strong mentally and also it was vital I was patient・ said a smiling Yuri Yamanashi.

"I had to be consistent and play for long points."Yuri Yamanashi never panicked; she just kept working in order to achieve her goal.

"It was such a difficult match; when she returned the ball with backspin from the backhand I felt quite confident" continued Yuri Yamanashi.

The backhand is the side of the racket on which Kim Kyung Ah uses long pimples. It means she is very safe and secure when playing backspin strokes from the backhand but it is very difficult to vary the degrees of spin on the ball.

Yuri Yamanashi was able to read the spin with clarity
; against heavy backspin returns she was comfortable,the result is that short forced Kim Kyung Ah to attack and of course that is not the forte of the Korea.

Nevertheless at 8-all in the seventh game, the duel was on the proverbial knife-edge. Kim Kyung Ah decided attack was the best form of defence, that might have been the case but the point went to Yuri Yamanashi.

The next point witnessed a somewhat tame return from the Korean into the net,a lapse in concentration or I wonder if the error was not caused by sheer tiredness.

Two match points, Yuri Yamanashi played positively but always under control, topspin attack after topspin attack; eventually an error from the Korean.

It was victory for Yuri Yamanashi.
